About the Author
Dr Abzalov is a geologist with 35 years of experience. He has obtained his PhD in Geology studying nickel sulphide deposits in Russia and Fennoscandia and then undertaken additional post-graduate studies of Applied Mathematics at Murdoch University, Australia and Geostatistics in Fontainebleau, France. He has worked in different roles in research, exploration and mining geology, including the positions of Geology Manager – Project for WMC Resources and Exploration Manager – New Opportunities (Eurasia) and Group Geostatistical Consultant for Rio Tinto.
With diverse commodity and geographical experience, encompassing five continents, Dr. Abzalov has demonstrated skills in greenfields, brownfields and resource modelling. With an innovative approach of geostatistically assisted 3D structural modelling, he has lead WMC Resources to the successful resource growth at Olympic Dam and Cliffs deposits. He was also instrumental in the discovery of the uranium resources in Jordan.p>

Like reading the script to a bad Borat movie...

$200 ? I managed to get hold of a heavily discounted copy, but its still a waste of money. The book is unreadable - even allowing for the fact that the author is not a native English speaker (and is writing for Australians, who speak their own version of English anyway). Surely Springer has professional editors? The text reads like a bad version of a Borat movie, full of inappropriate or missing articles and pronouns, grammar errors and strange syntax. A typical randomly chosen sentence reads "Unlike to a trivial QAQC of the assays the EDA is lacking of a mandatory study methods and a rigidly prescribed sequence of the study steps is also lacking" (p. 207). Just reading the text gave me a headache. Working out what is actually meant is almost impossible at times and very time-consuming.
The material included, once you get through it, is also quite sparse, with little or no depth to anything, except of course LUC, with a huge number of references to the author's own work and little of substance otherwise. Save your money - get the Rossi and Deutsch book instead.
