About the Author
Ricardo Tobon is a CG artist, an international lecturer and a University professor. He has worked in the visual arts and entertainment field in the United States and South America. His animated shorts have been shown in film festivals worldwide. Mr. Tobon was a key player in the founding of the online motion capture educational resource MocapClub.com , he currently serves as the Chair for this project. Ricardo holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Mr. Tobon designed the Motion Capture course for the Computer Animation Program at Full Sail University where he currently lectures while he continues to work as an independent artist.

The Mocap Book review

The Mocap Book is a great tool for learning or brushing up on the motion capture process. In this book you will learn a practical work flow using Cortex, Motion Builder, and Maya to achieve your motion capture product. The Mocap Book uses a series of step by step tutorials that start from a simple object through a standard biped character capture. You will go through the capture process, clean up, and integration of the captured data. Then you can use your individual style and creativity to add layered animation on top of the base data to have a final animated piece. The best part of this book is that it does not have a cd or dvd included that can get lost or broken, all of the files needed are hosted on the mocapclub.com website. Enjoy adding to your cg knowledge with The Mocap Book.

Great Overview

The MoCap book provided me a great overview of the process of Motion Capture through a very step-by-step tutorial process. You get a good feeling of how the process of motion capture works, and feel accomplished when you have a moving character at the end of the book.
