The series is starting to slip

I've read every book in this series and this one seems to be a rehash job of previous works. Its time for the authors to get off the post 9/11 theme that our only enemies are muslim. Kyle Swanson is a marine sniper, not James Bond. Lets get back to sniper tactics, new weaponary and being a soldier.

It's not a bad book, but it's not as good as the others and once you finish reading it you feel a litle empty. I hope next year's effort is better.

Spain is facing financial disaster. They are going to have to solve their monetary woes. The European banks have offered a plan. A group of Muslim bankers
offers a plan where no conditions have to be met. The United States opposes this plan. The Muslims a banking are represented by a banking consortium that
goes by the name "Group Of Six". The "Group Of Six" decides to launch a terrorist attack on the embassy in Barcelona,Spain. This attack is led by Djahib Rebiane. He is the son of one of the members of "Group Of Six".Six Marines are killed as a result of the Terrorist attack on the embassy. The United States decides to assassinate the members of the "Group Of Six". The President decides to use "Task Force Trident" to gain revenge. The main assassing of "Task Force Trident" is Kyle Swanson. The task force decides to kill Cristobol Jose Bello. The next target selected for attantion is Juan De Lara who is a
financier. He falls victim to Swanson's killing skills. It is now the group of four. The next member of the "Group Of Six" is targeted for assassination in
Paris, France.She is a banker(Mercedes Sarra Bourihane) who is also a member of the targeted group. Given the assignment are Beth Ledford(Coastie) and another lady who belongs to "Task Force Trident". They catch up with Bourihane in the restroom of the restaurant. They proceed to shoot her in the heasd three times. These assassinations are causing mass panic in the "Group of Six". All of the members are having to hire additional security to provide them
security.The "Group of Six" discovers that they have a leak.Djahib Rabiane locates and kills Mannix Dillon. She has a botique brokerage firm that is
located on Wall Street. Yanis Rebiane has been giving campaign donations to Senator Jordan Monroe. Monroe is able to provide information that Kyle Swanson is
still alive. The finale of this story takes place in Mexico City(Mazatlan) at Beth Ledford's wedding. You also have a confrontation between Kyle Swanson.
This has been the best book in the series so far. Be sure to read it.

I chose this rating because it is a great read by a master story teller and it just flows from page to page, so finding anything to criticize negative about this wonderful read Will not be done by me.
I recommend this book to all those who like a mystery, those who like intrigue, espionage, thrilling story telling this book is for you. As I say with much respect to this writer you can spread the words so well from page to page that reading other authors in between your stories is a bit of a let down, so I eagerly awaiting your next master piece.

I ordered this book with Sage Peachtree US Version from Amzaon.com.
Unfortunately, this book is designed for the UK version of the software only.
The UK version is totally different from the US version.
This means that this book is useless for me.

Stephen Greenblatt (Ph.D. Yale) is Cogan University Professor of the Humanities at Harvard University. Also General Editor of The Norton Anthology of English Literature, he is the author of eleven books, including The Swerve: How the World Became Modern (winner of the 2011 National Book Award and the 2012 Pulitzer Prize); Shakespeare's Freedom; Will in the World: How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare; Hamlet in Purgatory; Marvelous Possessions: The Wonder of the New World; Learning to Curse: Essays in Early Modern Culture; and Renaissance Self-Fashioning: From More to Shakespeare. He has edited seven collections of criticism, including Cultural Mobility: A Manifesto, and is a founding coeditor of the journal Representations. His honors include the MLA’s James Russell Lowell Prize, for both Shakespearean Negotiations: The Circulation of Social Energy in Renaissance England and The Swerve, the Sapegno Prize, the Distinguished Humanist Award from the Mellon Foundation, the Wilbur Cross Medal from the Yale University Graduate School, the William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre, the Erasmus Institute Prize, two Guggenheim Fellowships, and the Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of California, Berkeley. George M. Katharine Eisaman Maus (Ph.D. Johns Hopkins) is James Branch Cabell Professor of English at the University of Virginia. James Simpson (Ph.D. Cambridge) is Douglas P. and Katherine B. Loker Professor of English at Harvard University and former Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at the University of Cambridge. An Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, he is the author of Piers Plowman: An Introduction to the B-Text (1990); Sciences and the Self in Medieval Poetry (1995); Reform and Cultural Revolution, 1350–1547; Volume 2 of The Oxford English Literary History (2002); Burning to Read: English Fundamentalism and Its Reformation Opponents (2007); and Under the Hammer: Iconoclasm in the Anglo-American Tradition (2010).

M. H. Abrams (1912―2015) was Class of 1916 Professor of English, Emeritus at Cornell University. He received the Phi Beta Kappa Christian Gauss Prize for The Mirror and the Lamp and the MLA's James Russell Lowell Prize for Natural Supernaturalism. He is also the author of The Milk of Paradise, A Glossary of Literary Terms, The Correspondent Breeze, and Doing Things with Texts. He is the recipient of Guggenheim, Ford Foundation, and Rockefeller Postwar fellowships, the Award in Humanistic Studies from the Academy of Arts and Sciences (1984), the Distinguished Scholar Award by the Keats-Shelley Society (1987), and the Award for Literature by the American Academy of Arts and Letters (1990). In 1999 The Mirror and the Lamp was ranked twenty-fifth among the Modern Library's "100 best nonfiction books written in English during the twentieth century."

Ahh! Get a cup of tea, find a cozy spot, and settle in...

If you're a book lover, how can you not love a book like this? It was my required reading for a literature class, and I was all too happy to have an excuse to buy it. Satisfyingly fat at 3000 pages, it exudes that delicious book smell when you flip through it, and its matte-sheen cover feels good in your hands and protects its sizable contents quite well.

For me, this was worth getting just for Seamus Heaney's wonderful translation of Beowulf. You can smell the ocean and hear the armor clank as this readable version places you right there in the sixth century. Along with the usual excerpts from such works as the Canterbury Tales, you get complete versions of King Lear, Twelfth Night, Utopia, and Paradise Lost. After looking over the excerpts from Gulliver's Travels, it appears that sections 1,2, and 4 are presented complete, with only some material edited from section 3, so you get almost all of that, too. The footnotes for this, and all the other works, are enormously useful.

I have a few gripes about the book, however these don't merit the subtraction of a star in the rating. First - this book is SO heavy. Obviously there was no way around this in publishing, because to put this many pages on good-quality paper the laws of physics are working against you. But I have literally suffered backache from bringing it around with me in my book bag, and have had to sorrowfully leave it at home at times because of this. Second, I wish it included a clear list of which major works are presented complete, for those of us who want to make sure to read the whole thing. My final beef is with the editorial introduction to The Wife of Bath's Prologue and Tale from the Canterbury Tales. Reading this rant about "antifeminist writings" was like stepping from the high halls of classic academia into the junior-college classroom of some washed-up 1970s holdover. I HATE agenda in my education, and in my opinion, applying 20th century (yes, 20th) sentiments to 14th century literature is anachronistic and inappropriate. But such is the state of education these days, and here is your evidence in a volume that should have known better. However, that has been the only thing I have come upon that irritated me.

Buying this book is a great way to get a bunch of classics all at once, and there is so much to it that you can enjoy a long read or a short read anytime you want, once you find a way to work around its mass. I look forward to the years of reading pleasure I'll get from my copy.

Incredible Amount of Excellent Literature All in One Book!

While there have been changes made to the Norton Anthology of English Literature, Volume 1 (or A), there's no mistaking that in its genre, this is a masterpiece. It's easy to quibble with which selections make it in and which versions are used, etc. But this is an incredibly rich resource of early English literature.

This is one of the books that helped foster my love of literature, and that of many others. It is a portal to any number of authors you wish to read in more detail. It's hard not to love a book that gives you introductions to the following authors and works - and many, many more!

More indepth studies

The Norton Anthology of English Language broken into two volumes offers the student a broader study and notation of each century's work compared to the Major Authors Editions. I own both and was surprised by some of the titles left out of the condensed version. The footnotes are especially helpful during the Anglo-Saxon & -Norman section as well as Middle English.

I would avoid Norton Anthologies with highlighting. Norton publishes on extremely thin paper and often the highlighting shows through the page. My experience comes from my own use of highlighters while studying, however, as I am the one inflicting the damage to my text, I cannot complain.

This vision improvement method works.

A great book full of detailed instructions. I have used Janet Goodrich's method in conjuction with the Cambridge Institute Vision Program and have had very good results. My vision has gone from 20/400 to about 20/200 so far and I plan on saying goodbye to my glasses someday. A life enhancing book that is easy and fun to read.

This is an excellent book, and it worked for me. I went from being near sighted and needing glasses to 20/20 vision (to the amazement of my eye doctor). I have also been bothered with light sensistive eyes since my childhood, and my eyes are now comfortable even in brilliant sunshine.

Proceed With Caution

I've read and enjoyed other books by this author, but I have to say that it just doesn't work for me. I suspect that a reader is either going to love this book and get a great deal out of it, or it's going to leave them cold. I agree with the basic premise, that having a broad understanding of different academic areas should make you a better investor. I have always been interested in history and geography, I love to learn about different people and places, and if you have a reasonable grasp of history, it sure does help to make things clearer in the here-and-now. So I can certainly understand and agree with the premise. My problem is simply that I'm just not that interested in learning much about the areas that have not interested me in the past, things like mathematics and philosophy. And I don't intend for this to sound mean, but I'm just not sure how much a brief overview on a particular topic is going to be of much benefit. By all means, give this book a try, for the right person it might just be one of the best books on investing you will ever read. Me, I'm just too lazy (hey, a man's gotta know his limitations!)

Quick, shallow, wide survey of ideas and thinkers

This might be somewhat useful to a complete novice in finance and investing ideas and history, to get a thumbnail sketch as a bare start. It is a mile wide and an inch deep, which I suppose fits the title. It is like a menu that barely explains the items on it, and not terribly well at that, before moving on. The whole book is peppered with a sort of grade school boosterism repeated ad nauseum -- yes, I get it: we should always be learning, combine thoughts from different sources, always think nimbly, retest our ideas, etc. etc. I felt this book in tone talks down to me. The author editorializes about the concepts in ways not always warranted or supportable or particularly bright; this is not a deep or scholarly or terribly careful work. It would be easy for a novice to misinterpret these simplistic sketches as the meat or substance of the underlying ideas. Fortunately the references in the book do point to important and deeper works. The usual sidling up to Warren Buffett (here, by proxy, to his pal Charlie Munger) is here too: today's marketing ploy for most any book. Again, one small sliver of views from Munger is repeated at unnecessary length.

Failed Attempt to Repeat Charlie Munger's Worldly Wisdom Teaching

The author gives a shallow introduction to an important discipline in each chapter. He tries very hard to link each discipline to investment but I found his attempt failed. It is not surprising to predict this as it is very hard to do so unless you are a successful investor (it reads Charlie Munger) and thought about the subject really hard and distilled your theory/philosophies over the years through application to the real investment world.

You should definitely give this a book a pass and read Charlie Munger's Poor Charlie's Almanack instead. Indeed, you gain much more reading just the speech given by Charlie at USC than from this whole book.

This Book Really Helped Me

I read this book many years ago after injuring my back in a yoga class. I can't vouch for the science behind it, but the practical ergonomic suggestions the author makes have repeatedly helped me when my back was bothering me. Of course this is anecdotal, but over the years, maintaining the poses and avoiding the positions per the author's instructions have reliably been correlated with better back health for me. I've been mostly pain-free for years and have bought the book for a number of friends, which is why I'm back on Amazon at the moment, getting it for yet another friend who is in pain.
